WE WON AT TECHTOGETHER AUTUMN 2023!

tt2023

On October 17, 2023, our team participated in the Techtogether engineering student competition, held as part of the Techtogether+ automotive industry conference, exhibition and event. Unlike previous years, this competition was condensed into a single day.

Each year, the Techtogether competition follows a similar structure. After registration, teams receive tasks from the sponsoring companies, assessing their knowledge and problem-solving skills. As in previous years, this meant completing numerous preliminary assignments to ensure strong performance. During the competition day, multiple tasks were carried out in parallel across different locations, where the previously prepared materials and presentations were showcased and evaluated.

Upon arrival at the Eiffel Workshop House, we set up our designated booth before the competition officially began. Precise time management was essential, as we had to balance corporate and practical challenges alongside several on-site tasks. One of these was the HUN-REN SZTAKI sustainability challenge, for which we demonstrated the team’s sustainability efforts over the past 12 months. In a 3D-printing-focused task, we had to present a selected part manufactured using additive technology. In addition, we completed a quiz and visited three supporting companies that did not provide tasks but offered the opportunity for informal professional discussions. Beyond the assignments, the jury also evaluated the quality and presentation of our booth.

The president of Techtogether+ was Dr. János Takács, president of the Scientific Society of Mechanical Engineers. The jury also included Dr. Géza Haidegger, senior research fellow at SZTAKI. They evaluated the tasks presented by the teams, as well as our booth.

The 3D task was judged separately by a dedicated committee, led by György Falk, founder and strategic director of Varinex Zrt. Additional jury members included Gergely Hajas, managing director of Alu-Öntő Kft., and Ádám Deffend, NPI engineer at Magyarmet Finomöntöde Kft.

Following the completion of all challenges, the awards ceremony began. After receiving the certificates, the corporate special prizes were announced. Our team earned four special awards: from the Hungarian Foundry Association, Knorr-Bremse Brake Systems Kft., msg Plaut Hungary Kft., and Rohde & Schwarz Hungária Kft.

Finally, the top three teams of the Techtogether competition were announced. The hard work of the preceding weeks and our strong on-site performance paid off, as our team was named the overall winner of the 2023 autumn Techtogether+. György Falk, founder and strategic director of Varinex, presented us with the 400,000 HUF grand prize for first place.

Despite balancing university studies, the development of next year’s race car, and demanding corporate assignments, our members delivered outstanding results. Events like this help strengthen our teamwork and deepen our collaboration skills. We are extremely proud of this achievement, standing on the top step of the podium among the fourteen competing teams—proving once again that we can excel even in a diverse and challenging competition environment.

We would like to express our gratitude to the companies and organizers supporting Techtogether+ for creating such a high-quality competition. We are also thankful for the dedicated work of our team members and the generous support of our sponsors!
