FS Easter 2023 highlights

easter2023

Between June 16 and 18, 2023, our team participated in the Formula Student Easter event held in Zalaegerszeg. Within the framework of this excellent initiative, we had the opportunity to compete with several other Formula Student teams ahead of the official season. These three days were perfect for gaining experience and practicing various competition events, as we received continuous feedback from the judges on both our performance and ongoing work, helping us prepare as thoroughly as possible for the official competitions.

Friday began with registration, after which our team set up in the pit area. Several technical inspections took place during the day, starting with battery scrutineering, where the judges check that all components of the battery comply with the regulations. This was followed by EV1 and mechanical scrutineering. While EV1 went smoothly, the mechanical inspection took longer, as this part of the competition is divided into four subcategories. The day concluded with an opening ceremony, where all participating teams were briefed on the schedule for the following day.

Saturday was perhaps the most eventful day of our weekend. We completed the mechanical scrutineering, followed by EV2 scrutineering. The static events took place on this day, starting in the morning with our Business Plan presentation, followed by the Cost & Manufacturing and Engineering Design events. Dynamic scrutineering also took place on the 17th, starting with the Tilt Test, followed by rain and brake tests. After these technical inspections, we faced our first on-track event, the Skidpad, which focused on the car’s cornering performance. Our team performed exceptionally well throughout Saturday’s events, as reflected not only in the judges’ feedback but also in our points. The day concluded with a team photoshoot, giving us the opportunity to take group pictures with other Formula Student teams.

Sunday began with the driver egress test, after which our car participated in two dynamic events. First was the Autocross, testing the vehicle’s acceleration, braking, and cornering abilities. Our team recorded the fastest time in this event and continued the strong performance in the Endurance event. Despite a slower pace due to a partially charged battery caused by a charger malfunction, we completed the distance successfully, maximizing our performance under the circumstances.

Following the events, all teams gathered for a closing ceremony, where the top-ranking teams were announced.

Our team’s results are a testament to the skills and expertise of our members, as each member is assigned to tasks that align with their interests and strengths. After extensive preparation and hard work, our team achieved 2nd place overall at this preparatory competition—a result we are extremely proud of.
